Lighting
A solid alabaster shade on a blackened-brass base. Stone is never uniform, which is why the glow has depth instead of the flat wash you get from a plastic diffuser.
Cut from real stone. Every one has a different vein pattern running through it.
The stone diffuses and warms the bulb. No hard edge, no glare on a wall.
Heavy enough that a passing sleeve does not take it off the table.

01 — The material
Frosted glass scatters light evenly and flatly. Alabaster is slightly translucent and slightly irregular, so the light varies across the shade — that is what makes it look expensive.
02 — The bulb
At 2700K the stone reads honey. Put a cool bulb in it and the whole effect collapses into grey. The included bulb is the right one.
03 — The scale
42 cm tall — enough presence next to a chair without blocking the room. Two of them flanking a sofa is the way most people use it.

I was half expecting resin. It is stone — you can see the veining change when the bulb is on and it is different on each side. Warmer light than I expected too. Bought a second one for the other end of the sofa two days later.
Small thing but it changes how much you use a lamp. It sits at hand height so I actually turn it down in the evening instead of leaving it at full. Base is heavy enough that the cat has not managed to move it.
