Lighting
A 50 cm rice-paper sphere on a bamboo frame. It is the cheapest way to make a harsh ceiling point into a soft, even glow across a whole room.

01 — The physics
A bare bulb is a point source and casts hard shadows. Half a metre of paper turns the same bulb into a huge soft source, which is why the room suddenly looks calm.
02 — The material
Printed plastic imitations go yellow and read cheap the moment light passes through. Rice paper on bamboo has a visible grain that only shows when lit.
03 — The fitting
No canopy work, no weight to support. It clips onto a standard pendant cord.
